Market offers opportunity for early bird Christmas shopping

Home based businesses and direct to home businesses to get a show of their own.

Golden’s home-based and direct to home businesses are coming together to showcase their products, and bring them to the customers.

“I wanted a place to put my stuff, and nobody was doing it so I decided to organize it,” said Jeanette Jackson, organizer of the market. Jackson hopes to give people the chance to see what businesses are out there, and all in one place.

“I’m doing it to make it easier for the customers, having it all in one place makes sense. It’s like a craft fair where everybody has their own little table where they can sell their stuff.”

There are other places for vendors to display their products, but the criteria leaves some merchants unable to participate.

“There’s the craft fair, and there’s the farmers’ market, both are great events, but you can’t have merchandise for sale. It has to be something you made,” said Jackson.

“I just started selling Scentsy stuff, so I want to get my name out there, and I figured that would be a great way.”

The appeal of an event like this, says Jackson, is that it gives the people in Golden the chance to find out what businesses are selling, and see it in person.

“Before I started organizing this, I had no idea there were so many people that sold this stuff. There’s so many Mary Kay ladies and Avon ladies and that kind of thing. I think that a lot of people don’t know.”

This pre-Christmas event takes place on Nov. 18 from noon to 8 p.m., and on Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If there is a good response from the public, Jackson is hoping that she can bring it back in the spring as well.

“I mean, who doesn’t love shopping before Christmas.”

There will be door prizes, discounts, and the early date allows people to order merchandise that is not on site, and it will still arrive in time for Christmas.

There are still tables available for the event. Any vendors interested can call Jackson at 344-1075. The cost is $40 per table for both days.
