Mission company hits Chinese market

A 13-year-old specialty tea company from Mission has entered the market in China.

A 13-year-old specialty tea company from Mission has entered the market in China with its organic fair-trade teas.

On the heels of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent visit to China to promote Canadian products to the Chinese marketplace, Tega Teas are now being promoted in that country.

Canadian products enjoy a good reputation in China and there is increasing demand there for sustainable organic foods, free from pesticides.

Tega Teas are manufactured in B.C. using organic ingredients sourced from fair-trade farms in Africa and Darjeeling, India.

Nu-Tea Company Ltd., the parent company of Tega Tea, is a certified Woman’s Business Enterprise (WBE) and a member of the Canadian Food Exporters Association and the BC Food Processors Association.

Last month Nu-Tea Company’s organic fair trade Rooibos teas were presented in the Canadian pavilion at the Hong Kong Food show. Rooibos teas are caffeine free wellness teas rich in antioxidants and minerals.

Liz Bandelin, the president of Nu-Tea Company and the creator of Tega organic tea, is a promoter of fair trade and sustainable organic foods and thanks Agrifoods Canada and the BC Ministry of international trade for their support.
