Mission Group Homes, an award-winning local multi-family builder, reached an impressive milestone this spring when they handed over the keys to their 1,000th homeowner. Founded in 2004, Mission Group actively contributes back to the community and has chosen to celebrate this major success by donating $10,000 to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter.
“At Mission Group, we take home building seriously and we love what we do,” said Jonathan Friesen, CEO of Mission Group Enterprises, in a press release. “We’re humbled by our success and wanted to mark this milestone by giving back to the community and support the important work of the Kelowna Women’s’ Shelter.”
The Kelowna Women’s Shelter is a non-profit society that provides safe emergency and transitional housing, food, clothing, support, and educational services for women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. Marking its 35th anniversary, the Kelowna Women’s Shelter has provided thousands of local women and children the opportunity for a life free of abuse.
“Last year, the Kelowna Women’s Shelter housed more than 200 women and children, provided 15,500 meals, and delivered more than a thousand individual and group counselling sessions,” said Kelowna Women’s Shelter executive director Karen Mason.
“It is only thanks to generous donations from the community, and in particular organizations like Mission Group Homes, that we are able to continue doing this important, and necessary, work to help victims of domestic violence and abuse, and we are so grateful for the support.”
