Mission resident Gerald Minchuk, City of Langley director of development services and economic development, received the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Green Champion Award – Individual Category at the Canadian Municipalities Awards of Excellence ceremony which was held during FCM’s 78th Annual Conference and Trade Show in Edmonton, Alberta.
The FCM Green Champion Award recognizes a municipal staff or elected official who has demonstrated leadership, innovation, and commitment to sustainable development within their municipality or region.
Presenting the FCM Green Champion – Individual Award Category to Gerald Minchuk was Green Municipal Fund chairman Ben Henderson, who said, “I applaud Mr. Minchuk’s commitment to promoting sustainable community development and leadership over his 21years of service in the City of Langley.”
Mayor Ted Schaffer stated, “Gerald Minchuk has demonstrated leadership and commitment to sustainable development by spearheading several innovative plans, projects and programs, and has positioned the City of Langley as a leader in land use planning and economic development.”
Minchuk said he was “fortunate to be able to work in a dynamic team-oriented workplace, surrounded by dedicated employees and a City Council who are committed to making a positive difference in our community.”
