My Tech Guys host an open house Friday.

My Tech Guys host their second annual computer cleaning open house Friday Aug. 3 from 9:30 a.m. — 5 p.m. at the Comox store at 1812 Comox Ave.

“We were blown away with the response last year with over a dozen people lined up outside our store before we opened,” Comox store manager Frank Biermann said. “It was crazy all day with lots of people bringing in computers that really needed to be cleaned out.”

This year My Tech Guys will post pictures of the dirty ones on Facebook with an award going to the biggest Killer Dust Bunny. Cleanings are free but donations are accepted, with funds going towards YANA.

“We really want to thank our customers in Comox and the rest of the Valley who have supported us over the past six years,” owner Bob Wells said. “The last 12 months have been our most challenging as we grew very rapidly, and then our Courtenay location was being renovated for several months, keeping customers from easily accessing it. Without our Comox store our company would not have been able to survive.  However, the slowdown at our Courtenay store has forced us to lay off two of our employees. It has been the hardest thing we have ever had to do. To let someone go even though they are great employees and are doing all the rights things simply sucks. We are confident we will be able to hire them back this fall once traffic is able to pick up at the Courtenay store as renovations are now done.”

Even the Comox store had its challenges last fall when the awnings were blown off during one of the major wind storms.

“We are really proud of our new awnings which are designed to last forever. We feel so lucky to be part of the Comox business community and we plan to stay here,” regional manager Bryan Tisdale said.

Even if you don’t have a computer that needs cleaning stop by to enjoy our new air conditioners and chat with the friendliest geeks in town.
