News picks up five national awards

First for print advertising and special section publication in the over-25,000.

The Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News collected five 2016 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards.

The News placed first for print advertising and special section publication in the over-25,000 circulation categories. The entry for “Lisa Nelly Photography” won for advertising, and “Locally Owned” for special section.

The News also came second in the special section category, and third in print advertising. The special section was for “A-List,” while in advertising, the award was for “Bruce’s Market.”

The News earned a third-place award for newspaper marketing and promotion, over 25,000, for “News Ad Campaign.”

The News is honored to be recognized by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association for our creativity, marketing acumen and skill with these national awards,” said Lisa Prophet, publisher. “We strive to reflect the communities we serve and the businesses we work with and this is a great example of the team at The News being recognized for their daily goals. “

Newspapers Canada is a joint initiative of the Canadian Newspaper Association and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association, separate organizations that partnered to create one strong industry voice for newspapers in Canada.

Combined, the two associations represent over 830 daily, weekly, and community newspapers in every province and territory in Canada.
