North Island College has named Cheryl O’Connell its new interim dean of trades and technology.
O’Connell keeps her position as NIC’s current dean of continuing education and training, where she has worked with community, gov- ernment and industry for more than six years.
She and her team have supported the North Island by developing a wide range of vocational training programs, tailored to local employers’ and students’ needs.
As the interim dean overseeing all of NIC’s trades and technology programs, O’Connell will play a critical role ensuring North Island students achieve success in B.C.’s growing trades sector.
“Cheryl has extensive knowledge of the ITA and has developed strong, productive relationships with our region’s industries that will serve NIC and our communities well,” said Lisa Domae, the college’s vice-president of learning and students.
The interim position runs from Jan. 26 to Aug. 31.
“I look forward to building on the strong relationships established by outgoing dean Patricia Rokosh in all of our trades programs,” O’Connell said.
Local industry and employers can contact O’Connell directly at Cheryl.O’Connell@nic.bc.ca.
