Open For Change celebrates 1.9 million litres of water saved with Bottles For Change Campaign

Banner to be hung in Kelowna’s Knowles Heritage Park in recognition of community’s huge contribution towards water conservation

Open For Change, a Kelowna-based social enterprise, invites the public and local media to celebrate the success of their first Bottles For Change campaign,  Sept. 19 at 1:15 p.m.

On July 11, over 370 homes in the Knowles Heritage Park area participated in the environmental initiative, placing plastic water bottles filled with sand in their toilet tanks to reduce water consumption. As a result, 1.9 million litres of water will be saved on an annual basis. A banner will be hung in the park on Saturday in recognition of the neighbourhood’s efforts, proving that small actions can make a huge impact.

Open For Change intends to repeat the Bottles For Change campaign until they have reached their goal of saving 1,000,000 litres of water a day.
