With school ended for another year and the weather great so far, it’s time to start enjoying summer to the fullest.

They’ll be serving up the biggest birthday cake in town, while live music and other fun activities will be on hand for everyone to enjoy. Bring your flags to show your national pride and join in the celebrations, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Loghouse Pub has many specials today, including a prize giveaway of a Molson Canadian branded fire pit, and don’t forget about their H.O.G. Run pig roast on July 4. That day includes a Harley Davidson motorcycle show and shine from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the pig roast set for noon to 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 while they last.
The Westshore Triathlon takes place July 5, starting with competitors swimming in the clear waters of Langford Lake. They then cycle through the picturesque communities of Metchosin and Colwood, and finish with a run on the beautiful trails surrounding Langford Lake. Sounds like a great event to get out and enjoy and cheer the competitors on. Visit westshoretriathalon.com for more info.
The Coast Collective gallery has a special members-only show this Saturday, July 4, when you can meet the artists at an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, July 5, the Vancouver Island Mustang Club hosts a meet at the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre lower field from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all makes and models welcome. Visit vima.mysite.com for more info.
On Sunday, July 12, the Vancouver Island Chapter of the Cadillac Car Club of B.C. will have a show featuring close to 100 cars, all great examples of this luxury marque. The event will take place at Fort Rodd Hill, with tickets available at the park entrance.
Whatever your plans on Canada Day and beyond, be sure to play safe, stay hydrated and drink responsibly.
