January has been a busy month and we have had some great weather to allow us some outdoor activities.
Tomorrow (Jan. 28) all day, the new WIN (Women in Need) store in Langford will be celebrating its official grand opening. If you haven’t already checked out the store, stop by and visit them Thursday for food, refreshments, entertainment and some great deals. Their new location is at #129-735 Goldstream Ave. in the Goldstream Station plaza.
On Friday, Jan. 29 at St. Mary’s of the Incarnation Church, 4125 Metchosin Rd., come and celebrate the discovery of German Baroque music before Bach. The show is entitled “Why should the Devil have all the Good Times?” and is a special pre-Pacific Baroque Festival concert. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online at pacbaroque.com or at Westside InstaPrint, Tom Lee Music, Coast Collective or at the door.
On Friday, Feb. 5 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Coast Collective Arts Centre hosts the official grand opening of its new location at #103-318 Wale Rd. in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites at Westridge Landing. This event offers guests an opportunity to craft their own artisanal valentines, listen to music, enjoy appetizers and meet artists from the show opening that evening, entitled Red. Westshore Town Centre is hosting its annual Family Festival over the Family Day long weekend, Feb. 6 to 8, at the mall. There will be a ride along train, interactive exhibits on astronomy, science and toy trains. And for a 29th straight year at the festival, the Victoria Model Shipbuilding Society will stage an exhibit featuring large, static model ships and smaller, radio-controlled craft operating in the club’s own pool. Members will be available to answer any questions.
The Langford Legion hosts a Super Bowl fundraiser for the Westshore Rebels junior football team on Sunday Feb. 7. There will be lots of prizes, fun and the game projected onto a huge screen for everyone to enjoy. Tickets are $15 each; for more information, visit westshorerebels.ca.
