Parkers supports Discovery House

A Penticton Chrysler dealership is continuing its support of addictions aid and recovery

After raising $7,400 for Pathways Addiction Resource Centre, Parkers Chrysler is continuing its commitment to helping defeat addiction challenges facing Penticton.

The next step is a full sponsorship partnership with Discovery House, a facility for men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, which has been running successfully in Penticton for the past decade. Late last year, they began expanding into a larger facility.

For the month of June, Parkers will be donating $100 for every vehicle sold and $10 for every oil change service during the month to Discovery House. Later in the month, Parkers will be the title sponsor of Discovery House’s Family Fun Father’s Day Picnic.

As with Pathways, the new partnership is in memory of dealership owner Janet Parker’s son Colin, who died last October.

“Support for recovery is necessary and is sorely missing in our community due to lack of funding. It is my hope that Parker’s leadership in this will encourage other local businesses to get involved as well,” said Janet Parker. “Colin personally donated to Discovery House and it’s important to his memory that we continue helping however we can to return men to their families.”

Other sponsorship and fundraising initiatives will occur throughout the year in support of the new Discovery House facility at 633 Winnipeg St.

“We are so excited to have Parkers Chrysler on board as an ongoing sponsorship partner for Discovery House,” said Jerome Abraham, executive director for the facility. “Parkers’ interest in helping others to find recovery and to receive the lifesaving and life changing support from Discovery House is a real game changer for us. We are looking forward to working with Parkers over the next few years to ensure that more men can get the much-needed tools for recovery and a better life.”

Family owned and operated, Parkers Chrysler has been operating in Penticton since 1945. More information can be found at www.parkerschrylser.com.
