The Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce is heading into the New Year with a new look and some changes to staff responsibilities, including the introduction of a new events co-ordinator.
The chamber announced last week the addition of Caitlin Woon as its new events co-ordinator. In the position, Woon will co-ordinate all aspects of the chamber’s events schedule and will assist with visitor services at the Parksville Visitors’ Centre.
“This is a newly created position within our team, and we are looking forward to having a dedicated events co-ordinator,” said Kim Burden, the chamber’s executive director. “Caitlin will be a great addition, bringing recent event experience and some fresh new ideas.”
Woon is a recent graduate of Vancouver Island University and has a bachelors in Tourism Management, with a major in Recreation and an Events Management Certificate. She is a confident leader and communicator and will easily be able to build strong community relationships, the chamber said in a written release.
“Looking forward, she is most excited about the new and creative ways she will be able to change and grow our events and she anticipates working closely with the chamber team to achieve these goals,” the release stated.
In changes to current staff responsibilities, Linda Tchorz takes on the role of overseeing visitor services and continues with her administrative duties. Lisa Wallace will focus on sales and marketing and has added communications to her portfolio. In addition to her regular duties as the chamber’s bookkeeper, Lynda Schneider will be responsible for in-house graphic design, the chamber announced in its release.
