It’s been going on for eight years but downtown Maple Ridge’s Spring Treasure (Easter egg) Hunt keeps bringing in new shoppers and businesses.

The annual event ran from March 9 to 23 and drew in new businesses including Brownies Chicken & Seafood, Emerald Moon, Art of Music Centre, Hansel & Gretel Bakery, and Kleem Candle Market.

And more customers learned what’s available in the central area.

“Many commented they discovered businesses they didn’t know existed, which is exactly what we want to hear,” said a news release from the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association.

Some shoppers stopped at all of the 20 businesses participating to get their passports stamped while others just looked for as many eggs as they could. A total of 200 people got their passports allowing them to enter a draw for huge Easter baskets.

The Maple Ridge Library, which has participated for the last two years, estimates more than 400 people visited the library on the hunt for hidden eggs.
