As the energy flows so goes health.
This is a notion fundamental to several ancient practices, including quigong, which is now available in Salmon Arm.
The National Quigong Association describes quigong as an ancient Chinese health-care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word qi in qigong (pronounced chi kung) is usually translated to mean the life force or vital-energy that flows through all things in the universe.
As a medical intuitive holistic health practitioner Stephanie Marie Lafazanos assesses how people’s energy is flowing in their bodies.
“When I do a medical intuitive scan, I can see where energy is blocked in the body,” she says. “When a person is experiencing illness there is usually an energy blockage.”
Lafazanos says the practice of quigong that deals with physical, mental and emotional issues helped her following tough times in her own life.
“When I started getting into those layers, that’s when I started to heal,” she says.
A qigong instructor as well as holistic health practitioner, Lafazanos is available to provide home visits and will be teaching quigong at Sweet Freedom Yoga beginning in May.
In the meantime, Lafazanos is organizing a by-donation event on April 30 for World Tai Chi and Qigong Day.
Michael Turner a local tai chi Instructor will lead a class from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Sweet FreedomYoga, immediately following Lafazanos’ quigong class, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
