Rotary salutes ‘community-minded’ businesses

The Rotary Club of Victoria Harbourside will salute local businesses who “give back to the community” with a feast of lobster.

The Lobster-Fest table is set for Saturday (May 14) at the Ambrosia Conference and Event Centre, 638 Fisgard St., starting at 6:30 p.m.

“This is an opportunity for us to recognize and thank a special group of community minded local businesses who regularly support Rotary charities, but who rarely receive the recognition they deserve,” said Paul Doherty, organizing chair of the event.

“They are the unsung heroes of our community, giving selflessly of their time and money to help families in need and disadvantaged youth, which is a particular focus of Rotary clubs everywhere.”

Among the businesses to be recognized: the Allan and Loreen Vandekerkhove Foundation, Megson FitzPatrick Insurance, Greenberg Electric, the Hotel Grand Pacific, Vision 2000 Travel Group, Great Pacific Mortgage and Investment, Borrow Smart Corp., ISM Canada and Victoria Harbour Ferries.
