Rumours catching on

Rumours offering authentic Mediterranean cuisine in Vernon's Park Plaza.

The rumour around Vernon is there’s a new dining experience at Park Plaza on Highway 6.

Rumours Mediterranean Family Restaurant, owned by the de Beer family, offers authentic Mediterranean food – mainly Greek and Italian fare – with other dishes of Spanish and Mexican influence also available.

Their large menu means there are plenty of options, and it is also a fully licenced establishment. Some of their traditional Mediterranean menu items include souvlaki, calamari, kebabs and lamb. Popular North American options include steak, wings, ribs, soups, salads and burgers.

“Our chefs are highly qualified with many years of international experience and exposure,” said Andries de Beer, who emigrated to Canada with wife Christina and daughter Natasha, from Namibia, Africa. “We receive tremendous and positive feedback from our customers and have already established a loyal repeat customer base.

“We have over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry and enjoy what we are doing.”

Asked how a family from southern Africa got involved in a Mediterranean restaurant, Christina said: “My grandmother was Greek. I was the lucky one who got all the family recipes.”
