SASCU CEO Michael Wagner, left, and Bernie Desrosiers, president of the Shuswap Settlement Services unveil the Uptown SASCU branch as a Safe Harbour. The downtown branch already has the designation.
“Becoming a Safe Harbour signals a commitment to protect and assist any member of the public seeking protection from racism and hate,” says Desrosiers. “It also serves as a commitment to staff that complaints of racism or hate within the workplace will be addressed. This is a new initiative in Salmon Arm and a proactive way of ensuring our community is welcoming and inclusive. We hope others will follow SASCU’s lead.”
