Sell your used tires, reduce your footprint at same time

Derek Beech and partner Matt Wisniewski have found a way for businesses to actively market their inventories of used tires for extra cash while reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.

Derek Beech and partner Matt Wisniewski have found a way for businesses to actively market their inventories of used tires for extra cash while reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.

When Courtenay-born entrepreneur Beech decided to enter the forest industry in 1994 he never thought for a second that almost two decades later he would be looking for a new career.

“Yeah the last few years have been very difficult!! Making ends meet is always a challenge in an area of high unemployment … but it does give you time for creative thought which is where new concepts are born!” says Derek.

“While driving a Ford Escape one day, one of my tires failed beyond repair. As times were tough a new set was unaffordable. Particularly since the other three had 75 per cent tread remaining.

“Do you think I could find one to match — not a chance! The only quick (and expensive) alternative was buying four new tires and throwing away the three perfectly good ones.

“There must be a better solution I thought to myself! Why is there not one place where one can quickly find a particular pre-owned, takeoff or discontinued inventory?”

This was what eventually led to Derek and Matt’s creation of EZTireMatch.Com. A website designed for those looking to buy used tires at a great price (and actually finding them!) and sellers looking to sell their surplus inventory (and actually selling them!)

“Our site allows you to search for specific tires by searching multiple inventories which have been submitted by various businesses with inventories of used or discount new tires. Now buyers can find that particular tire(s) and replace only what you need. Sellers can economically expose their inventories to a large customer base and finally turn that stale inventory to cash!”

Having already met with success in the interior, Derek & Matt now hope to get the local market to take notice and start using the site on a regular basis.

“Who knows? Maybe one day the site will truly help the environment by utilizing those unwanted but perfectly usable tires worldwide,” Derek chuckles.
