An upcoming coffee barista course not only teaches techniques to making good coffee, but the latest trends from green bean to cup. The coffee culture is always growing and changing, from espresso and cappuccinos, to mocha lattes, bullet proof coffee, latte and foam art, and now even cold brew nitro coffee on tap.

The Royston Roasting Company is offering its 2016 barista courses starting Sunday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm.

“This course is so much fun, and we are finding it appeals to any age group for all kinds of different reasons,” says owner Dyan Spink, who teaches the course all over Vancouver Island. “Younger people are getting jobs with the certification and others just love coffee and want to learn all about the differences, how to make great coffee, and even what to order when frequenting coffee houses.” The course is $120. It includes a barista manual, certificate, all supplies and lunch.
