Spa gets revamp, new attitude

If you’ve recently gone to the spa at Attitude South, you may have noticed a new look and new atmosphere.

If you’ve recently gone to the spa at Attitude South, you may have noticed a new look and new atmosphere.

This is thanks to Melissa Sagar-Garcia, who, along with aestheticians Beth Wallace and Brianne Garvin, has overhauled the spa and brought it to a new level.

“I’ve been an aesthetician for 17 years,” Sagar-Garcia said.

“I started TreSpa and sold it and retired to have kids.

“I got the opportunity given to me to work at Attitude South.”

Sagar-Garcia explained there was already a spa space at Attitude South, but she “revamped it to a higher class spa,” adding she is looking to “create a medical spa.”

In terms of what sort of atmosphere she wants to promote, Sagar-Garcia is very focused on training and professionalism.

“We focus on professionalism, for one, and educating the staff,” she explained.

“I’m really big on bringing new things to Quesnel.”

Among these new things, is a brand new skin scanner which was purchased.

This scanner is used to provide free skin analysis in conjunction with products available at the spa.

“We have a line from Geneva, Switzerland,” Sagar-Garcia said.

“It’s a very good prescription-based medical spa line that helps change people’s skin and give them the skin they’re looking for.

“The scanner will prove our products and results are better.”

Sagar-Garcia has also brought in a doctor to do injectables, such as Botox.

Sagar-Garcia has been working with other local businesses to promote Quesnel services.

“I like to work with small businesses and supporting them and bringing them into the spa,” she said.

“We’re working with the nail academy, bringing their services into our salon.”

Sagar-Garcia, Wallace and Garvin have trained at the academy, specifically training on pedicures for diabetics as well as foot diseases and disorders.

“We stand behind all our services and all our knowledge,” Sagar-Garcia said.

“We offer a good price for a good service.”

Sagar-Garcia started out as a hair model for BC Hairdressers Association, where she was introduced to aesthetics.

“Then I became an aesthetician when I was 17,” she said.

“I just always had a passion for it and helping people feel good.”

Sagar-Garcia is bringing lots of experience into the revamp of the spa, having worked with a multitude of people in aesthetics.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work with amazing people in the industry in L.A., Montreal, Vancouver: the elite.

“I’m fortunate I’ve been getting my education from them and bringing it to Quesnel.”
