After two and a half years of planning, Steve Marshall was happy to finally put a shovel in the ground at the site of the new Steve Marshall Ford dealership in north Campbell River on May 5.
Marshall said the business will take around a year to construct. He wishes it would have been completed this year, as it is his 50th business anniversary, but it wasn’t meant to be. He said he was excited none the less.
Mayor Andy Adams was present for the groundbreaking ceremony.
“We are very appreciative of the investment and confidence Steve Marshall has provided to the community,” he said.
This new dealership is a step in the right direction to revitalize and improve the north Campbell River area, he added.
The dealership is being constructed on the empty lot next door to Marshall’s Mazda dealership.
City council awarded Marshall the major development permit on Nov. 23, 2015, after Tom Dishlevoy, the architect for the project, presented the conceptual plans to council.
Adams said it was neat to have the original proposal come across his desk in the beginning and be there for the ground breaking ceremony two and a half years later.
