Surrey Women in Business Award winners honoured

Third-annual Surrey Board of Trade event recognizes the city's business leaders.

The winners of the Surrey Women in Business Awards were honoured at a luncheon at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel this afternoon.

The Surrey Board of Trade hosted the third-annual event, which recognizes the hard work of Surrey’s business leaders and their contributions to the community.

Nominations were submitted in five categories and judged on the nominee’s work in Surrey, business acumen, leadership, balanced lifestyle and community involvement and service.

The winners are:

Entrepreneur Category:

• Kim Russell, Canadian Tourism College

Professional Category:

• Vivienne Wilke, City of Surrey

Corporate Category:

• Amy Hennessy, FortisBC

Leadership Category:

• Ellie King, The Royal Canadian Theatre Company

Not-for-Profit Executive Category:

• Kathleen Kennedy-Strath, Kinsmen Lodge

Bonnie Burnside was given the Community Achievement Award for her work as manager of special events and communications for the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association.
