Think pink this summer in Qualicum Beach

Friday evenings to get a splash of colour in Qualicum Beach uptown

Qualicum Beach Councillor Mary Brouilette is thinking pink.

She wants other people to do so, too, and for a very good reason.

That’s the colour that will be highlighted in the town’s uptown core this Friday evening — and every other Friday evening this summer.

“The Downtown Business Association is putting on a summer market every Friday night, with the theme being ‘In the pink in Qualicum Beach,’” she said. “All the businesses will show pink signs, with hot pink specials. It will show that Qualicum Beach will be open Friday nights until 9 p.m.”

The market, she said, will take place in front of town hall, where Primrose Street will be blocked off to give the event traffic-free room.

“Bailey’s will be barbecuing, there will be entertainment and vendors,” she said. “All businesses in town are going to put pink buckets in front of their store, so when you stand at the bottom of Second Ave. you can look up and know who is open.”

The markets, she said, will run every Friday until Sept. 2.
