A Kelowna company has made the Metabridge 2014 Top 15 Canadian Startups list.
Selected from 83 applicants coast to coast, the company will be among those highlighted in a two-day executive retreat targeting the most promising Canadian tech companies.
“It’s really competitive,” said Jeff Keen, Accelerate Okanagan CEO. “We’re extremely impressed with the response and the calibre of companies that applied to participate.”
The company from Kelowna is WTFast, a global data network for MMO gamers (massively multi-player online game). It was designed by Rob Bartlett and he has been with the Accelerate Okanagan’s BC Venture Acceleration Program, a tech incubator, for two-and-a-half years.
Bartlett is now operating in downtown Kelowna with 20 employees.
The sixth annual Metabridge conference will run June 12-13 here in Kelowna, marrying some of the most promising Canadian startups with the brightest minds from California’s Silicon Valley and other tech centres across North America.
One or two Okanagan companies have typically make the Top 15 list, according to Keen, although it is by no means a guarantee. The aim is to help these young companies find the investment, partnerships, business advisors and international market development expertise to succeed.
There are three ways to attend the conference. The kickoff is only $20, at the Laurel Packinghouse, the finale party at the Hotel Eldorado is $65 and delegates pay $550 to attend, or $350 for startup operators.
