There’s been a change of ownership at a downtown hair salon, but friendly service and expert styling remain top priority.
Parvaneh Abdolvahabi and Farbia Bayat Ghaisi took over the salon back in December. With a fresh name, new faces, and more affordable prices, Spadina Hair Design has been growing their clientele ever since.
Since moving to Chilliwack with her family in 2006, Parveneh studied at a local beauty school and worked her way up through local salons. Fariba started styling in the Chilliwack salon in 2014, bringing with her many years experience hair-dressing in Iran, Malaysia and Germany.
When the previous owner was ready to sell the salon (formerly Studio 103), these two friends were eager to step up.
“I love playing with hair,” Fariba said as she ran her fingers through her client’s fresh cut. “And talking to the clients, too. I love my job.”
They both already had the passion, and now they have the added ambition and drive that comes with running your own business.
“We do everything,” Parveneh explained. They offer cuts and styles for women, men and children, and bring new life to hair with colour, foils, streaks, perms and treatments. They’re able to construct intricate up-do’s for the special events in their clients’ lives, and they even offer threading to remove those unruly eyebrow hairs.
“We have a lot of friendships with people,” Parvaneh explained. “This place is very warm and friendly.”
Being at a central downtown location, clients will often pop-in to say ‘Hello’ on their way to the grocery store or the bank, and people will often walk-in for a quick cut after a Saturday morning shopping trip.
These two stylists are always ready to try something new, whether it’s a colour combination you’ve seen online, a cut that you found in a magazine, or an up-do that you came across on YouTube.
“We always want to be up to date,” Parvaneh stressed.

“To all of our clients, thank you so much for encouraging us with your business,” Parvaneh expressed. And to those who are coming to the salon for the first time, “Welcome, we are ready for you!”
