Time is ripe for Christmas mixer

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts an event with the Comox Valley Airport, Community Futures Strathcona and North Island College.

The Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce is getting into the Christmas spirit by hosting a collaborative event with the Comox Valley Airport, Community Futures Strathcona and North Island College.

The annual Community Partners Christmas Mixer will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the college’s Trades Building.

The event typically draws more than 150 business people who will enjoy live music, appetizers and a no-host bar serving wine and beer.

Admission is by donation, with 50 per cent of the proceeds going to The Salvation Army.

Non-perishable items for the food bank will also be gratefully accepted.

“This is our biggest business mixer of the year and we are thrilled to be working in partnership with these other organizations,” says Dianne Hawkins, Chamber president and CEO. “We extend an open invitation to both Chamber members and non-members alike to come out for an evening of festive celebration, good food prepared by Custom Gourmet, and bar service provided by the Courtenay Rotary Club. Dress is festive business casual and all attendees are encouraged – but not obligated — to bring door prizes. As with all Chamber events, people are also encouraged to wear name tags and bring business cards for door prizes.”

Pre-registration is required as capacity is limited. Visit www.comoxvalleychamber.com/news-events or call 250-334-3234.

•The Chamber invites the public to join them Thursday for the final networking lunch of 2012.

The Winners’ Circle Networking lunch will feature a panel of four of the Top 40 Under 40 award recipients, each representing a different aspect of business, trade and commerce in the Comox Valley.

The chamber stresses that everyone, not just Top 40 Under 40 nominees or recipients, is welcome to attend.

There will be plenty of time for networking, lunch and door prizes.

Moderator is chamber director Andrew Gower of Wedler Engineering.

Panelists include:

•    Kim Bannermann-Pigott, Fox&Bee Studio

•    MacKenzie Gartside, Verico Select Mortgages

•    Mike Manara, Mount Washington

•    Joe Renooy, MMP LLP

Tickets are $27 plus HST for members and $32 plus HST for non-members. Advance tickets only.

The event runs from 11:45 a.m. — 1:30 p.m. at the Westerly Hotel.
