Tofino’s only pub has a new manager, Scott Wilshaw.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Wilshaw relocated from Calgary, Alberta to Tofino for his first day on the job, which was Oct. 18th. He is open to public input and encourages anyone to stop by for a chat or drop him a line at manager@marinawest.com.

Marina West owner Willie Mitchell said in a letter to the Chamber of Commerce last week that the changeover was bittersweet because former manager Joe Sopp will be moving on.

Mitchell told the Westerly he wants to re-establish Marina West as an anchor in the community, and plans to nurture the spirit that was generated at the meet and greet barbecue held in August.

“We’re all fishermen looking to take care of fishermen,” Mitchell said.

Expansion plans on tap for 2017 include doubling the size of the marina to accommodate 75 slips. Mitchell said floats will be donated to salmon enhancement organizations.
