The Top 20 Under 40 Business & Community Achievement Awards announced a call for nominations for its second annual celebration that recognizes Vancouver Island businesses.

The awards ensure businesses have a chance to honour that segment of their professional communities to whom the future belongs – those under 40.

Anyone can nominate entrepreneurs, executives, managers and professionals in public, private or non-profit sectors. Nominees are selected based on such values as achievement, experience, innovation, leadership and community involvement. They will have demonstrated excellence in business judgment, leadership and contribution to communities on a local and regional level.

The Island is divided into five regions: Victoria and the Capital Regional District; Cowichan (Malahat to Ladysmith); Nanaimo and Oceanside; Port Alberni and West Coast; Comox Valley and North Island.

Regional judges will review submissions from their regions and submit selections to a five-member panel for final selection.

Winners will be announced at a gala event hosted by the title sponsor Old House Village Inn & Spa, Feb. 15 at the Florence Filberg Centre in Courtenay.

Nominations by peers and colleagues will be accepted until 5 p.m. Nov. 29. The nominations committee will review the personal success of nominees and their education, community service, and participation in industry and business associations as well as other accolades and awards.
