Tourism leaders will gather in Penticton on Dec. 3 to learn what’s trending in the digital marketing world at the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association’s Summit.
The two-day event will cover analysis of two key markets – B.C. and Alberta – as it relates to the Canadian Tourism Commission Explorer Quotient program, and will review progress on implementing the 10-year tourism strategy designed to improve the region’s standing as a world-class visitor destination.
First on the agenda is the TOTA AGM, with Destination B.C. president Marsha Walden speaking about the new corporate strategy and the brand refresh for the province. This session is open to all tourism stakeholders. The summit opens with a reception hosted by Tourism Penticton at the Lakeside Resort, Convention Centre & Casino.
TOTA president Glenn Mandziuk says this Summit’s theme – The Places We Grow…Being Social – will build on the momentum of the tourism strategy and current growth in the development of destinations, tourism experiences, relationships and routes-and-corridors – all of which are creating a more vibrant industry with significant growth in non-traditional tourism periods in the region.
“We are very pleased to partner with the City of Penticton, the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Tourism Penticton and its executive director Chris Bower to bring this important tourism industry conference to the South Okanagan,” said Mandziuk.
Attending tourism businesses will benefit from experts who will be representing TripAdvisor and Google, and other experts discussing trends and strategies to stay current as technology changes and social media evolves.
“The Summit gives us the chance to promote excellence and closer partnerships among all tourism stakeholders in our region as we plan how to develop our tourism destinations and tell people around the world about the exciting and memorable travel experiences they can have here,” added Mandziuk.
