A new coffee shop has opened in Vernon.
Triumph opened a month ago on 30th Avenue, across from Bookland.
“Our focus is on a different style of roasted beans. We roast our beans with an artisan roaster,” said co-owner Andrew McWilliam.
“We focus on lighter to medium roasted beans to give our coffee interesting flavors like caramel or berries, rather than just chocolate or smoky coffee.”
Triumph also offers a full tea menu, JagaSilk tea and in-house baking.
Triumph is owned by a pair of families, Andrew and Sarah McWilliam and Matt and Robin Hewitt.
“It is the first time any of us have owned a store. It’s going smoothly thanks to the great staff we have here,” said Andrew McWilliam.
“I love owning my own shop,” added Robin Hewitt.
“I have worked in coffee shops in Victoria and Montreal in the past. I wanted to bring a coastal, big-city feel to our shop.”
The inside of the shop has several different seating arrangements, light fixtures and a private meeting room for businesses to work in.
The shop was designed by Caste, a design company out of Victoria.
“It provides privacy for people to get their work done in a social environment,” said Hewitt.
The aptly named shop, Triumph, has been a success according to the owners.
“Wishful thinking I guess,” joked Hewitt.
“We just liked the word. It has a positive feeling to it and we think it looks pretty good.”
Andrew McWilliam was a youth worker in high schools and Robin Hewitt was a stay-at-home mom prior to Triumph.
