Vehicle sales help South Cariboo Health Foundation

Central GM teaming up with SCHF to purchase new Glidescope

Brenda Devine, public relations and fundraising co-ordinator for the South Cariboo Health Foundation, and Central GM owner Tom Bachynski are working together to raise funds to purchase a Glidescope for the 100 Mile District General Hospital.

The Glidescope is a “lifesaving” unit that will be used for airway management during emergency care. The cost for this unit is around $30,000.

During the month of April, Central GM will be donating $150 from every vehicle (valued over $5,000) sold during its April Shower of Savings event to the SCHF’s hospital equipment fund.

Devine says she heard about a similar program put on in other towns and wanted to try it here. She approached Bachynski with the idea.

Bachynski says his decision to partner with the SCHF was based on what this organization stands for and the hard hard work it does to get the best equipment possible for the hospital.

“The Heath Foundation is a very worthwhile cause and I strongly believe in helping out the community wherever I can.”

Devine says this is one portion of the fundraising being done during the year.

“The SCHF always welcomes donations.”

Devine says she hopes to receive additional corporate funding to assist with this purchase.

“Hopefully, we will reach the majority of the fundraising goal for this purchase by the summer.

“As long as there is need there will be a need for fundraising. All funds raised here stay in 100 Mile House.”

Donations can be sent to the South Cariboo Health Foundation, Bag 399; 100 Mile House, B.C.; V0K2E0, or they can be dropped off at the hospital reception desk.
