The Okanagan’s largest print manufacturer just got a little bigger on Monday.
Vernon’s Wayside announced the purchase of Wilde Imagination Signs and Design, owned by Nancy Wilde.
“Wayside really noticed signage as a growth industry, and we were looking for opportunities,” said Neil Perry, Wayside owner. “We want to find people that are like minded and fit our culture. We like to support our community and we look after our people and clients. Nancy is a perfect fit for that.”
Wilde, who has run her business for 20 years, specializes in traditional handcrafted signs – including anything from painted to large format print, vinyl cut letters or dimensional letters – using a variety of materials and techniques.
The signs at Vernon Teach and Learn and Alexander’s Beach Pub are examples of her work.
Wilde is also excited to be able to offer her existing clients the vast range of print and marketing services available through Wayside.
“My tool box just got way bigger,” she smiled. “We’re a team now. We have a lot of overlapping clients.”
Wilde will keep running Wilde Imagination at its current location on East Vernon Road. Her four employees boost Wayside’s total to 54.
While there has been a trend towards the use of LED technology in signage, Wilde is happy to further her niche using more traditional methods. She completed a three-dimensional cement-making course in September.
“I’m more old school, handcrafted,” said Wilde. “We bring a different aspect to sign making.”
