The Victoria Real Estate Board elected its new board of directors this week, led by 2017 president Ara Balabanian.
Balabanian graduated in civil engineering at the University of Waterloo and earned a master’s degree in engineering at the University of Guelph. He moved to Vancouver Island in 1980 and in 1986, pursued his long-time interest in real estate.
Over the years, Balabanian has been active in nearly all facets of real estate, from helping first time buyers to working with developers on multi-family projects, and has served as managing broker for three real estate offices.
He is also an instructor for B.C. Real Estate Association’s post-licensing and ethics courses.
“I feel very fortunate and excited about having the opportunity to work with the passionate and capable board of directors, our very professional and experienced membership and staff,” he said.
Joining Balabanian at the table are president-elect Kyle Kerr, past-president Mike Nugent, secretary-treasurer Bill Ethier and directors Sandi-Jo Ayers, Karen Dinnie-Smyth, Andrew Plank, Tony Wick and Cheryl Woolley.
Founded in 1921, the Victoria Real Estate Board is a key player in the development of standards and innovative programs to enhance the professionalism of realtors.
Members elect board of directors for two-year terms, with the president and executive seats single-year postings from the group of elected directors.
