Warriors host BCHL food bank fundraiser night

The West Kelowna Warriors want their fans to show why they’re the best fans in the BCHL tonight when they host the Penticton Vees.

Every BCHL (16 teams) is hosting a Food Bank fundraiser night this year, and the Warriors will be working with the Westside Community Food Bank to see if they can raise the most.

Fans attending that game are asked to bring non-perishable food donations to help stock the shelves for the local food bank before Christmas.

“By donating you will receive a ticket that enters you into draws throughout the night from our great sponsors: Ultimate Hockey & Skate, Shutout Sports Collectibles, Boyd Autobody & Glass, The Cove Lakeside Resort, Kal Tire, Subway, Original Joe’s and London Drugs,” said Andrew Deans, with the West Kelowna Warriors.

Also, throughout the month of November fans can purchase $5 raffle tickets at the Warriors Souvenir Booth.  At the Warriors’ Nov. 30 home game, the names of the two winners will be drawn.

The prizes: One person and two friends will take NHL Superstar (Minnesota Wild) Dany Heatley out golfing next summer, and the other winner and two friends will take Justin Schultz (Edmonton Oilers) out golfing next summer as well.  Both packages will be at Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy, and include a post-round stop at 19 Okanagan Bar & Grill.

Proceeds from this raffle will go to the Westside Food Bank and the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.

The Westside Community Food Bank’s most needed items include; baby basics, canned fruit, canned meats, canned soups, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, healthy cereal, pancake mix/syrup, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, stuffing and wholegrain crackers.
