The 2020 Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition (CASC) results are in, and a couple of local distilleries did themselves proud.
Both Wayward Distillery in Courtenay, and Shelter Point Distillery, just north of Oyster River, came home with numerous medals.
The Shelter Point Single Malt was a star of the show, winning a gold medal, along with the Best In Class distinction – one of three Shelter Point whiskies to earn gold medals in the Single Malt division.
The Shelter Point Old Vines Foch Reserve, and Shelter Point Smoke Point, also won Single Malt gold medals.
Shelter Point Sunshine Liqueur won a silver medal in the Liqueur-Fruit division.
The Shelter Point Hand Foraged Gin earned a bronze medal in the Gin-Classic division.
Wayward Distillery also fared well.
The Drunken Hive Rum earned a gold medal, with distinction, in the Rum category.
The Wayward Char #3 earned a silver in the Gin-Aged division, while Unruly Gin earned a silver in the Gin-Contemporary division.
Unruly Vodka won a silver medal in the Vodka-Contemporary division
Wayward Order Krupnik was also a silver medalist, in the Liqueur division.
The Wayward Order Depth Charge earned a bronze medal in the Infused Vodka category, and a couple of Wayward products were lauded for their branding.
Both Unruly Vodka and Krupnik won Branding gold medals.
The CASC is the only national spirit competition reserved exclusively for artisan distilleries.
