Young people of Chilliwack will have an opportunity to learn the skills they will need for tomorrow’s in-demand occupations as WorkBC’s Find Your Fit tour will stop at Mt. Slesse Middle school on Thursday.
Find Your Fit is an interactive event where individuals of all ages can learn about B.C.’s in-demand careers and test out some of the skills they would need for those occupations. Participants will also get to know career planning tools and the job resources and labour market information WorkBC.ca offers.
“B.C.’s economic future is bright, but we’ll need an educated and skilled workforce to meet the large demand of future job openings,” Chilliwack-Hope MLA Laurie Throness said in a press release issued Wednesday. “Find Your Fit’s interactive exhibits offer youth a hands-on way to experience career information, job opportunities and the educational tools they need, helping ensure all regions share in B.C.’s prosperity.”
Parents, teachers and career counsellors may benefit, too, by discovering ways to educate and support youth in their career exploration.
The Find Your Fit event will be open to the public Feb. 2 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at Mt. Slesse Middle School on Tyson Road.
