A hockey tournament for a good cause took over MNP Place on Friday, Apr. 5.

In partnership with BGC Okanagan, Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH), the first annual Pro-Am Charity Hockey Tournament made its stop in Kelowna, the fifth of a nine-stop tour. The day featured six teams playing in a tournament, with each team having one former/retired pro player.

All teams got to play three games and receive a personalized jersey and socks, a participant gift, and food and drinks.

The alumni who attended or played in the tournament included Jordin Tootoo, Todd Simpson, Neil Eissenhut, Ron Sutter, Tyler Bouck, Rene Bourque, and Cory Cross.

HHTH is a national charity that brings a one-day hockey tournament to communities across Canada aimed at raising funds and awareness to address the needs of the country’s estimated 250,000 homeless persons.

Through the first four events in Ottawa, Saskatoon, Peel Region, and Barrie, nearly half a million dollars has been raised.
