The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Jet Stream show band will play a free concert for the public this Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Comox Marina Park.
19 Wing Comox is holding the concert to thank the residents of the Comox Valley for the tremendous support the Wing receives from communities throughout the year.
While the concert is free, attendees are welcome to bring canned food donations for the Comox Valley Food Bank Society or cash donations for the Soldier On Fund.
Lawn chairs, food and drink are permitted at the park with grass seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. The concert is an alcohol-free event. Parking is available at the marina parking lots and on the street.
The Jet Stream band has quickly become one of the premier ensembles in the Royal Canadian Air Force. This internationally renowned 20 piece show band does it all — rock, pop, country, R&B, funk and disco.
Jet Stream has travelled all the way to Busan, South Korea for the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Seoul, south to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas International Tattoo and as far north as Iqaluit, showcasing a contemporary twist and cutting-edge approach, while carrying on the history and tradition of music in Canada’s air force.
The Pipes and Drums of the RCAF Band is the first and only full-time professional complement of bagpipe and pipe drum musicians in the history of the Canadian Forces.
Professional soloists from Canada’s pipes and drums world, this outstanding group has a very bright future as it supports the Canadian Forces at a wide range of ceremonial occasions, at community events across Canada, and when proudly representing Canada at international pipe band competitions and tattoos.
The free public concert at Comox Marina Park this Thursday runs from 7 to 10 p.m. You’re invited to enjoy a great evening of music with two of the RCAF’s premier music ensembles — the Pipes and Drums of the RCAF and the Jet Stream stage band.
Donations to the Comox Valley Food Bank Society and the Soldier On Fund will be accepted.
