The Vancouver Island branch of the Freemason Cancer Car Program is a service that provides free transportation fromlocations across Vancouver Island, to the Canadian Cancer Society Clinic and/or Lodge in Victoria for patients with cancer.
This is a volunteer service that is supported by members of the your community on Vancouver Island, the Canadian CancerSociety, and the Freemasons of British Columbia and Yukon.
“We have five vans located throughout Vancouver Island and our goal is to provide safe, courteous, comfortable andefficient service to our passengers,” said Colin Craig, who is the Nanaimo dispatcher.
Standish, one of the featured performers for the evening, has been influenced by the music of James Taylor, Cat Stevens,Passenger, and others.
His music has been aired on CHLY Radio in Nanaimo, and he shares his love of music with the passion of a true balladeer. As a prostate cancer survivor, Standish knows first-hand how valuable this transportation service can be in getting to andfrom treatments and being able to avoid the additional stresses of arranging for rides.
Sharing the stage on April 4, will be the ComoxValley’s local “Man in Black.” Al Pasanen is known for his Johnny Cash tributeconcerts at various local venues, including a performance at VI Musicfest and Comox Valley Exhibition.

Also a prostate cancer survivor, Pasanen is happy to be operational again and to be part of this fundraiser. One of hisfavourite musical milestones was writing a tribute song about Johnny Cash, which he sent to Cash’s daughter RosanneCash. Her personal response in appreciation of his song is among his most memorable musical experiences.
