Starting June 24 and running until Aug. 1, The 39 Days of July are back with a full menu of daily entertainment in downtown Duncan.

Most of the shows are presented on the CUPE Stage at Charles Hoey Memorial Park as hourly showcases of all kinds by touring and local talent.

The action runs from noon until 8 p.m. daily from Monday to Friday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays, with added concerts until 4 p.m. to complete the day.

But, that’s not all that’s happening during the festival.

There are teacher/student showcases on the CUPE stage most weekdays at 3 p.m. It’s a great chance for various invited teachers and their students to get some stage time to showcase what they do.

An open mic is available Mondays (and some Tuesdays) at 5 p.m. for performers from the community who would like stage time for three or four songs only.

Historical talks will be held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 4 p.m. in Charles Hoey Park.

Every Friday, look for solo guitar jazz stylings at 4 p.m. while Tuesdays at 4 p.m., the popular ‘For the Love of Words’ event moves to the park as well.

For those who enjoy a day with a special emphasis, themed Sundays are back at the park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It all starts June 26 with Diversity Day, then shifts to Elders Day on July 3 and Children’ s Day on July 10.

On Sunday, July 17, it’s the popular Intercultural Day, followed on July 24 by Gospel Music Day and July 31 by Country Music Appreciation Day.

Also on Sundays, look for special Sunday evening concerts with various local and touring acts taking the stage at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m and 7 p.m.

Supersoul Thursdays offers Thursday night yoga in Duncan’s City Square with Sun Lotus Yoga Sanctuary.

It’s a night dedicated to connecting with your higher self, and one another, through various practices which quiet the busy mind, bringing peace and clarity.

On the schedule are drum circle, kirtan chanting, asana posture practice, and yoga dance.

A special youth evening is scheduled for City Square on Saturday, July 30 as “a final musical blowout” to wind up 39 Days activity on that stage.

From noon to 6 p.m., there will be music performed by teenagers, with sponsorship from Coast Capital Credit Union’s Youth Get It.

At 6:30 p.m., it’s The Mae Trio, followed at 7:15 by Daniel Champagne and at 8 p.m. by Malahat.
