In honour of local arts and culture, Art Under the Umbrella is poised to return to picturesque downtown Chilliwack’s Central Community Park on June 11.

Themed around the Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s role as an inclusive umbrella organization, the Art Under the Umbrella festival encompasses a diverse range of artistic mediums.

Featuring an art market, live performances, artist demonstrations, and art installations, this all-ages event aims to bring local community members together with artistic individuals and arts groups in celebration of creativity in all its forms.

Visual artists are invited to put their twist on attention grabbing yet thought-provoking installation art to be displayed in the park and surrounding space. Art pieces created off-site and assembled in the park during the event are encouraged. Installations that are created with downtown landmarks or achitechtural features in mind may be considered.

Art installation proposal forms are available online and accepted until April 29.

Local artisans are invited to have their original, handmade artwork and goods for sale at the June 11 event as well.

Application forms for artisan vendors are available online and  accepted until May 13.

Save the date for Art Under the Umbrella on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to experience and celebrate local art in its many forms.
