A celebration of artists

Gala launches White Rock's first International Artist Day festival

The first annual International Artist Day Festival gala Oct. 25 at White Rock Community Centre brought out some 120 ticket holders to see – and buy – works by master artists and also anonymously-displayed 12″ by 12″ pieces by locally known artists in a wide array of styles and media.

Art lovers competed enthusiastically for the smaller pieces; while well-known master artists including IAD founder Chris MacClure and Gaye Adams, Dave Benning, Raymond Chow, Jonn Einerssen, Arnie Fisk, Dan Gray, Brent Heighton, Keith Hiscock, Terry Isaac, Rick McDiearid, Jef Morlan, David Patterson, Richard Tetrault, Vance Theoret, Jose Ventura and Alan Wylie exhibited their work and compared notes.

Also involving the crowd in the event, hosted by Jane Baldwin, was jazz by bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Miles Black and guitarist Bill Coon, and announcements by MC Mark Donnelly.
