A dog’s tale of adventure

Former White Rock resident publishes children's story

A former White Rock resident has published her first book, a children’s story called Kira: The Mysterious Disappearance.

The book by Imgard Schippmann – who now resides in Abbotsford and  uses the pen name AnaBella on some of the books – is about a six-year-old poodle named Kira who decides to venture out into the forest on her own.

During her journey, she becomes lost, experiences new adventures and makes new friends.

Schippmann was inspired to write by her two granddaughters, Isabella and Tatiana, who loved to listen to her stories.

Her pen name is a combination of their two names.

Schippmann said she has been telling stories since she was a young child.

“When my friend Gisela became sick, I visited her and told stories right out of my head … The other children found that out and they came over to Gisela’s, so I told them stories, too,” she recalled.

Born in Germany, Schippmann is a former registered nurse who worked in the operating room of an ear, nose and throat specialty hospital.

Last weekend, she signed copies of her book at Black Bond Books in South Surrey, 1-15562 24 Ave.
