A night of nonsense coming to Prince Rupert

Keith Lambourne will make his comedic debut on Nov. 18 at the Lester Centre

Keith Lambourne will be bringing some British flavour to the Lester Centre stage on Saturday Nov. 18 as he makes his comedic debut with the show, “A Night of English Nonsense.”

Lambourne, who originally hails from London, England, is a familiar face in Prince Rupert’s entertainment scene and at the Lester Centre. He has been master of ceremonies at events at the centre, has performed in musicals and has been a “War of Wits” contestant at the Tom Rooney Playhouse.

Performing a standup routine, however, will be a first for Lambourne. He said it is one of his bucket list items, and when the opportunity came for him to perform and help a good cause, he had to take it.

“I’m equal parts terrified and enthusiastic,” he said.

Lambourne will be sharing his experience as an Englishman abroad in a foreign land. He moved to Prince Rupert on March 17, 2003 and has lived in the city for the 15 years since. He said finds humour in differences between North American and British culture and he plans to highlight that in his act.

“There’s a saying that the Americans and English are separated by a common language,” he said. “I think the same is true for Canadians and the English as well.”

All proceeds from the show will go toward the maintenance and upkeep of the theatre. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. and will go till 10 p.m. with a brief intermission. Tickets cost $20 and can be bought at Cooks Jewelers or the Lester Centre.
