SURREY — “Begin the New Year with a party where you’ll encounter photography that freezes time, an artist who experiments with a trap door, and mythical animals made of clay.”
So say event planners with Surrey Art Gallery, where five winter art shows open this Saturday evening (Jan. 21).
The exhibits are Out of Sight: Eadweard Muybridge and Harold Edgerton, Zoopraxis: Edweard Muybridge’s Animal Kingdom, Scott Billings: A Risky Jump, Don Hutchinson: From Form to Fantasy and Inspired! Surrey Ceramic Showcase.
On Saturday, a panel discussion called “Science-Art Time-Speed” will kick off the evening at 6:30 p.m., when Stephanie Rebick, Anton Lee and Scott Billings will talk about the photography of Eadweard Muybridge and Harold Edgerton. The reception starts at 7:30 p.m. and runs until 9:30.
Admission is free. The gallery is located at 13750 88th Ave., Surrey, at Bear Creek Park.
