The Welcome Home 50th Anniversary Party being hosted by the District of 100 Mile House Anniversary Committee has an excellent lineup of live entertainment July 18-26 – and it’s all free.
New Age Entertainment/CaribooRadio.com’s Rob Fry is organizing the live entertainment, and he says the week-long celebration features a whole host of “very talented, incredible” entertainers.
Kicking off the anniversary shows is a street party downtown in front of the 100 Mile Community Hall on July 18 at 6 p.m., with Williams Lake rock band Third Degree.
Drive-in Movie Night rolls in at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre parking lot on July 19 (gates open at 8 p.m.), a by-donation fundraiser for the 100 Mile House Waterpark Society.
The Cowboy Concert and Poetry in Centennial Park also happens July 19, featuring popular personalities Alan Mobray, Bruce Rolph, Bernadette Ducharme and Jason Ruscheinsky at 7 p.m.
Dancing and drumming joins the mix with Canim Lake Band’s Cultural Day in the park on July 22 beginning at 1 p.m., along with plenty of other fun heritage activities.
Children will be entertained by Uncle Chris the Clown in the park on July 23 at 5 p.m. (after a Kids Day and Parade).
Music in the Park begins that evening with a full slate of musicians.
Fry says scheduled to appear between 5:45 and 9 p.m. are (in order) Emma Donnelly, Peter Thorne, former Cariboo Idol Kira Saenger (with Thorne), Herm Kiem, the Ballan Sisters, Leslie Ross, Dean Oshank and Patrick Christow.
More live bands hit the stage in the park on July 24 when Cariboo Artists Evening of Entertainment tunes in at 6 p.m. with former Cariboo Idol Candace Copley. Then the James Gang performs their popular local sounds, followed by Clancy Wright & the Silverado Band with its country music from Williams Lake.
On July 25, these eight days of great entertainment culminate on Party in the Park Day with the 100 Mile Community Band (10-11 a.m.) and Front Porch (11 a.m.-noon). Then there will be a performance by Quesnel artist John Robert (J.R.) Goodwin along with more Canim Lake Band dancing, Baladi Babes belly dancers, and tons of more activity and celebrations happening all day long.
Beatles tribute band Now & Then of Argentina will appear at 4:45 p.m. with the timeless music of the world-favourite band.
Then the party’s main event concert – the ever popular Louisiana Hayride – takes the stage at 7 p.m. with classic styles of country’s greatest stars.
Bring a lawn chair and relax while you tune your ears, tap your toes and enjoy some incredible free entertainment when the District celebrates its 50th anniversary in style.
This is just a sneak peak of entertainment, with many other activities, games and celebrations planned all week.
Fry says the terrific talent lineup is a key component to what will be the biggest event the District has held in decades.
