Abbotsford Hospice Society hosts annual gala

Butterfly Ball fundraiser takes place Saturday, April 28

The Abbotsford Hospice Society (AHS) holds its 15th annual fundraising gala on Saturday, April 28 at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Butterfly Ball (formerly the Moments of Hope Gala) features dinner prepared by an award-winning culinary team, entertainment and live and silent auctions.

The gala raises money for AHS programs and services.

AHS is in the second year at Holmberg House – an adult hospice on Marshall Road – and the organization is bursting with growth.

AHS has been providing support since 1996 to those who are palliative and those grieving the death of a loved one.

Holmberg House provides 10 palliative care beds, anticipatory grief support for families, and bereavement services for children, youth and adults.

This year AHS has impacted over 4,400 people in Abbotsford through various programs and services.

“There has never been a more important time to support hospice services and programs in Abbotsford,” said Ron Kuehl, executive director of Abbotsford Hospice.

“There has been a growing demand. In fact, all our beds have been consistently full, along with a wait list with those waiting to gain access to our grief support services.”

AHS services include one-to-one companioning, support groups, family counselling and expressive therapies for bereaved children and teens.

Tickets for the Butterfly Ball are available online at abbotsfordhospice.org/butterflyball. For more information about the event, contact Abbotsford Hospice at 604-852-2456.
