An Abbotsford singer has joined Canadian country/rock band Me and Mae.
The band recently announced that Caitlin Canning has joined their lineup, just before they head south to perform a showcase set at the NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif. on Jan. 20.
Me and Mae will also perform on a Los Angeles TV show called Real Music Live on Jan. 24.
The search for a new vocalist brought band leader Shawn Meehan to Darcy D Music Group in Abbotsford.
Following several auditions, Canning was discovered.
“Through the process, we found the perfect fit,” Meehan said. “Caitlin’s presence and vocal abilities have infused the band with a whole new level of excitement. We can’t wait to do the next record with her.”
Me and Mae released their debut album Off the Rails in 2014, which was quickly followed by a Nashville tour and a nomination for Top Country Best New Artist and winning the BC Country Music Awards’ Ray McAuley Horizon Award.
Their single Love Me Leave Me Lonely, which Meehan co-wrote with Carly Rae Jepsen, opened the barn doors for the band, and they haven’t closed since.
The group has toured extensively across Canada, playing festivals such as Craven Country Jamboree and Havelock Country Fest while writing new music.
The band’s first gig of the new year with Canning in the lineup takes place Jan. 15 at Gabby’s Cabaret in Langley.
