Local music star WiL is performing at the McMillan Arts Centre this Friday night, known for his raw and dynamic live show.
WiL received a few Western Canadian Music Association nominations when he first surfaced in the Canadian music scene in 2004 in Calgary.
For years WiL has been touring with big names like Colin James, Xavier Rudd and Matthew Good. For the past eight years he’s been based in Qualicum Beach, and he’s currently recording and self producing his new album with at Poplar Sound Studio in Errington.
In 2011, five of WiL’s songs were chosen to accompany ads in Travel Alberta’s popular ad campaign Remember To Breathe. The video Alberta featuring his song Roam has since received over three million views online. That song will also be on the television series Degrassi while some of his other songs have been selected for movies and other ad campaigns.
WiL is also a Top 25 Regional Semi Finalist for CBC’s Searchlight-The Hunt for Canada’s Best New Artist, and was named by CBC’s Grant Lawrence as a standout competitor.
The show at the MAC on April 18 starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 or $10 for OCAC members at the door.
