Jason Scott pays tribute to the legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond during his Diamond Forever show.
“It’s a big Neil Diamond party,” said Scott.
The Diamond Forever: A Mother’s Day Celebration of Neil Diamond is Saturday (May 7) at the Lantzville Royal Canadian Legion, located at 7227 Lantzville Rd. The event features dinner and a show.
“It’s a very fun show … this is a tribute; I don’t consider it an impersonation,” said Scott.
Scott said during the show, besides doing renditions of Neil Diamond’s songs, he also talks about the artist and the songs. It’s an interactive show. Sometimes attendees are on stage while Scott is in the audience. Scott said he never knows how it will go on any given night, but he does know it will be fun.
Neil Diamond’s career spans six decades and during that time he has created numerous hit songs. Scott said, in a press release, that interpreting Neil Diamond’s harmonious notes is not unlike being a symphony conductor and interpreting the music of Beethoven from a score.
Scott began studying music at a young age. At five, he began attending the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and at 15, he graduated with degree honours. He toured with nightclub and concert bands in his twenties. In 2005 he became the first Canadian and international performer to win the Be a Legend celebrity tribute artist competition, as Neil Diamond in Las Vegas.
In 2010, he was awarded the Best Platinum Showcase Award during the Sunburst Convention of Celebrity Tribute Artists.
Scott is also the only Canadian Neil Diamond tribute artist to be included in the feature length documentary Diamond Mountain, by Midnight Pass Entertainment. The documentary was directed by Steve Tatone and it features the stories of the lives of Neil Diamond performance artists both on and off the stage.
The premiere was recently held in Las Vegas. For more information please go to www.diamondfest2016.com.
Scott said the event, called Diamond Fest, was amazing. The performers got to go on stage with Neil Diamond’s band members.
Tickets for Diamond Forever are $45 available at the legion or by calling 250-390-2841 or 250-390-2108.
Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
